The first ever World Ovarian Cancer Day was launched on May 8, 2013. In order to gain momentum and international attention for the cause, Haft2 collaborated with 28 ovarian cancer organizations from around the world to produce a unique identity, including a logo, tagline, name, and colour strategy. In the following three years, the number of member organizations has grown to 107 and the day itself has seen global recognition by ovarian cancer survivors, families who have been touched by the disease, and a number of other interested participants. In 2015, Haft2 created the “Unbreakable Bond” campaign to highlight the importance of women’s relationships with each other in raising awareness for ovarian cancer, which was successful and resulted in over 300,000 impressions. For 2016, a new creative concept was needed in order to build on the success of the Unbreakable Bond campaign, increase social media activity around World Ovarian Cancer Day, and encourage users to submit content of their own.
Haft2 got to work developing a creative concept to present to the World Ovarian Cancer Day. In order to further emphasize the strength of women’s relationships and encourage online knowledge sharing, we developed the “Know Now” campaign. Centering around the phrase “if I knew then, what I know now…” the campaign asks online participants to submit a piece of advice they’ve learned through life using the hashtag “KnowNow”. A virtual sticky note is then posted to the online “Wall of Wisdom” on the World Ovarian Cancer Day website with capabilities to share on social media. By sharing their life lessons, we are encouraging people everywhere to share knowledge about ovarian cancer.
Would you like to support women and raise awareness globally for ovarian cancer? Make sure to visit the Wall of Wisdom to add a piece of advice that life has taught you. Let’s make this May 8th the best World Ovarian Cancer Day yet!
